Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Clarion Friday night in PSAC West action at McComb Fieldhouse.
In the first set,
Erika Lindqvist trimmed the Clarion advantage to 12-10 with a kill. The Golden Eagles would respond with six straight points to build the lead to 18-10. The Scots would get back to within five, 21-16, before Clarion closed out the set on a 4-1 spurt taking the first 25-17.
After falling behind 17-10 in the second, Edinboro with a 7-3 run led by kills from
Natalie Pallone and Lindqvist. A service error made it 21-17, but a trio of Clarion errors cut the lead to just 21-20. The teams would trade points before the Golden Eagles scored three straight to claim the second 25-21.
The Scots jumped out 3-0 to open the third, but Clarion scored the next seven points to take a 7-3 advantage. After a Karlee Berchtold kill made it 10-7 Clarion, the Scots used two
Jessica Hardin service aces and kills from
Bella Burrelli and
Makayla Neelands to take a 12-10 advantage. The Golden Eagles scored the next seven points to take the lead 17-12 and held off the Scots for a 25-18 third set win.
Lindqvist led the Scots with six kills. Hardin and Pallone each tallied five.
Abigale Soboleski recorded a team-high 12 assists. Burrelli led the Scots with seven digs.
Cassidy Snider paced the Clarion offense with 18 kills and London Fuller dished out 33 assists.
The Scots are back in action at noon on Saturday when they host IUP inside McComb Fieldhouse.
