Women’s Basketball Opens Season on Friday

Wheeling, W.Va. – The Edinboro women's basketball team opens the 2023-24 season with a trip to West Virginia for a pair of games at the Atlantic Region Crossover hosted by West Liberty and Wheeling.
 
The Games
Edinboro opens the 2023-24 season with a 2 p.m. contest at Wheeling on Friday. The Scots follow that up with a 6 p.m. contest at West Liberty on Saturday.
 
Returning Experience
The Scots return three of their top five scorers from a year ago headlined by First-Team All-PSAC West guard Hayley Sims. Sims averaged 14.7 points per game to go with 4.6 rebounds. Lauren Mullen added 6.6 points per game while Morgan Gentile chipped in 6.1 points per game. Five other Fighting Scots appeared in at least 22 games last season.
 
Last Season
The Fighting Scots finished 2022-23 with an overall record of 17-12 and 13-9 mark in PSAC West play. Edinboro advanced to the PSAC quarterfinals after beating Seton Hill in the opening round of the conference tournament.
 
Honor Roll
The Scots return First-Team All-Conference guard Hayley Sims. Head coach Callie Wheeler enters her sixth season at the helm of the Fighting Scots after earning PSAC West Coach of the Year honors last season.

The Scots were picked fourth in the PSAC West Preseason Coaches' Poll.
