Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro men's basketball game dropped a 78-61 decision to visiting Shepherd Tuesday afternoon in PSAC crossover action inside McComb Fieldhouse.
The Scots trailed 58-39 after a Phillip Jordan jumper at the 12:06 mark of the second half. Edinboro battled back with an 14-4 run keyed by 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc to trim the lead to 62-53 with 7:21 to play. Jarrod Robinson hit a triple of his own to make it 65-63 before
JJ Eubank cut it back to 65-56 with a trey. That was as close as the Scots would get as the Rams closed the game on a 13-5 spurt to set the final.
Edinboro was out of the gate fast scoring the first five points of the game on a
Madior Seye bucket and a Eubank triple. Shepherd answered back with a 17-2 run capped by a Robinson 3-pointer to make it 17-7 with 12:31 left in the first.
Easton Fulmer connected on a triple at the 12:06 mark and set off 14-8 spurt to cut the advantage to 25-21 at the 6:15 mark.
The Rams extended their advantage to 38-25 on a pair of Marcus Banks free throws with 39 seconds to play in the first.
Bernie Blunt hit a 3-pointer with less than a second left in the first to send the Scots into the locker room down 38-28.
The teams traded twos to open the second half, before Shepherd went on an 18-9 run to push their lead to 58-39.
Eubank led the Scot offense with 20 points including 6-of-16 shooting from long range. He also grabbed two rebounds and dished out two assists. Fulmer notched 14 points and three boards. Blunt finished the night with 13 points.
Banks paced the Shepherd offense with 22 points. Jordan finished with 16 points and six rebounds as well as four steals. Robinson added 13 points.
The Scots are back in action on Dec. 30 when they travel to Shippensburg. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m.
