Elhusseini Reaches 1,000 Career Points as Women’s Basketball Wins Double Overtime Thriller Over Seton Hill

Greensburg, Pa. – Rana Elhusseini hit a 3-pointer at the 4:37 mark of the second quarter to become the 36th player in Edinboro women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points, but it was her seven straight points in the second overtime that lifted the Fighting Scots to a 101-99 double overtime victory over host Seton Hill Wednesday night.

At the 2:53 mark of the second overtime, Maddy Moore gave Seton Hill a 92-88 advantage with a 3-pointer. Elhusseini provided the answer with a trey of her own on the ensuing possession to cut the lead to one, 92-91. She would connect on a floater and then two more free throws to extend the Fighting Scot advantage to 95-92. Christiane Frye scored four straight for the Griffins to take the lead back 96-97.

The Scots took the lead right back when Elhusseini found Bella Burrelli underneath for the basket and the foul. Burrelli converted the free throw to put Edinboro up 98-96. Emma Fischer split a pair of free throws cutting the lead to 98-97. Elhusseini hit a pair of free throws and Frye a layup to keep the lead at one, 100-99. Elhusseini split a pair and the Griffins missed several chances at a tying basket at the buzzer to set the final.

The Griffins jumped out early opening the game on a 15-4 run capped by an Alie Seto layup. After an Edinboro timeout, Burrelli, Hayley Sims and Elhusseini all hit layups to cut the lead to 15-10. Seton Hill closed the first on a 9-4 spurt to take a 24-14 lead into the second.
