Buffalo, NY. – The Fighting Scots opened their 2023 season on Wednesday evening, dropping a 17-3 result to the Saints of D'Youville.
Rylee Jones scored her first collegiate goal in the first period of play. The goal brought Edinboro level after going a goal behind early on.
Edinboro would have to wait until the fourth quarter to be back on the scoresheet. This time through
Caroline Zentis who also scored her first collegiate goal for the Scots. This saw Edinboro's best period of the game with two goals in two minutes. The third was added by
Rylee Jones, registering her second of the game.
Edinboro had 11 shots in total in the game,
Caroline Zentis and
Rylee Jones led the team with three each.
Emma Lamica,
Lexi Boyk,
Traci Culver and
Kenna Sinisgalli tried there best to pose an attacking threat with efforts at goal each.
Savannah Fischer registered five saves in the game for her first start in goal for Edinboro.
The Fighting Scots begin their away stretch of games at UDC on Saturday, Mar. 4. The game begins at 12 p.m. at the Georgetown Day School field.
