Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Bloomsburg Friday in their home opener at McComb Fieldhouse.
In the opening set, the Scots trailed 19-15. Kills by
Natalie Pallone and
Jessica Hardin sandwiching a Huskie attack error cut the lead to 19-18. Bloomsburg pushed the lead back to 21-18 with back-to-back kills. The teams traded points before Edinboro reeled off four straight points to grab a 23-22 advantage. Bloomsburg scored three straight to take the set 25-23.
With the second set tied 16-16, the Huskies got kills from Jenna Dubosky and Emma Anigua to go up 18-16. After a
Makayla Neelands kill, Bloomsburg scored five straight points to go up 23-17 and would go on to win the set 25-18.
Trailing 14-9 in the third, Edinboro used three Emilia Rowell service aces to close the gap to 14-13. The Huskies answered with a 5-1 spurt to go ahead 19-14 and hold on for the 25-20 victory.
Pallone led the Scots with nine kills while Hardin added eight.
Abigale Soboleski led the team with 17 assists.
Erika Lindqvist led the Scots defensively with four blocks while
Carly Pry added 12 digs.
Antigua led the Huskies with 17 kills and Elise Adelman added 35 assists.
The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they host Kutztown at 3 p.m.
