Bella Burrelli became just the sixth Fighting Scot in school history to record 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs as the Edinboro women's volleyball team downed Ursuline 3-0 in non-conference action Tuesday evening.
In the opening set, Edinboro took an 18-11 lead. The Saints cut it back to 18-13, but back-to-back kills by
Makayla Neelands made the lead 20-13. Ursuline went on a 6-2 run to trim the lead to 22-19, but the Scots finished the set on a 3-1 run to take the opener 25-20.
In the second, the Scots held a 24-21 lead, but four straight points by the Arrows made it 25-24. Edinboro extended the set after an Ursuline service error. The teams traded points to a 29-29 draw before a
Natalie Pallone kill and an Ursuline error gave Edinboro a 31-29 set victory.
The Scots opened up a 19-11 lead in the third. The Arrows scored the next four points to cut the lead to 19-15, but Edinboro closed the match with a 6-0 run.
Neelands led the Scots with 14 kills. Pallone chipped in 13 kills and Burrelli added nine.
Laney Burns led the way with 21 assists while
Abigale Soboleski added 20 helpers and three service aces.
Defensively,
Carly Pry notched a game-high 19 digs. Burrelli added 17. Pallone tallied three blocks.
The Scots are back in action on Friday when they travel to California (PA) for a 6 p.m. matchup with the Vulcans.
