Late Goal Helps Women’s Soccer to Draw with IUP

Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's soccer team overcame a two-goal deficit with a pair of second half goals to earn a 2-2 draw with visiting IUP on Friday night in PSAC West action.

Elle Smith gave the Crimson Hawks a 2-0 lead on a goal in the 63rd minute. Five minutes later, Emily Vogel found a ball that pinballed around in the box and off an IUP defender to her foot where she tucked it inside the right post to cut the lead to 2-1.

The Scots continued to push the offense and finally broke through when Teaghan Watkins bent a corner kick over the keeper and inside the far post tying the game 2-2 in the 85th minute.

Edinboro outshot the Crimson Hawks 12-9 overall and 7-5 on shots on goal.

Vogel's tally was her sixth of the season while Watkins was her first. Jenna Jackson also put a pair of shots on net for the Scots.

Edinboro is back in action on Wednesday when they make the trip to Seton Hill. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
