Manchester, N.H. – The Edinboro women's volleyball team went 1-1 on the final day of the Saint Anselm Invitational Sunday afternoon.
 
In the opener, the Scots swept Southern Connecticut State 3-0. With the score level at 17-17 in the first set, the Scots closed the set on an 8-2 run keyed by three kills from Makayla Neelands to take the set.
 
The teams went back and forth in the second needing extras to decide a winner. The Owls grabbed a 27-26 advantage after an Edinboro attack error, but kills from Kathryn Rachilla and 
Bella Burrelli put the Scots up 28-27. A SCSU attack error gave the second to Edinboro.
 
The Scots jumped out 9-1 in the third set and never looked back scoring a 25-12 set win to close out the match.
 
Neelands paced the offensive attack with 14 kills. It was a stellar serving match for the Scots as Burrelli tallied four service aces and 
Carly Pry adding three. 
Abigale Soboleski triggered the offense with 20 assists.
 
Soboleski also led the Scots in digs with 13. 
Erika Lindqvist recorded four blocks while 
Kasey Smith and Neelands each added three.
 
In the second match of the day, Edinboro jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Hawks rallied to win the next three and take the 3-2 victory.
 
The teams were tied 17-17 in the first set, a Soboleski ace, a 
Natalie Pallone kill and four Hawk miscues made it 23-18. Back-to-back kills from 
Jessica Hardin and Smith gave the Scots the set.
 
Edinboro got out to a lead in the second set and held off a Saint Anslem charge to take the second set 25-21.
 
The Hawks would rally and win the third and fourth sets by matching 25-19 scores before winning a back-and-forth third set 16-14.
 
Pallone paced the offense with 12 kills. Hardin added nine and Neelands notched eight. Lindqvist delivered three service aces. 
Laney Burns led the way with 23 assists while Soboleski added 19.
 
Soboleski had a team high 19 digs while Neelands tallied 16 and Pry 15. Pallone picked up a game-high five blocks.
 
The Scots are back in action on Friday when they travel to the Quincy Invitational where they will play three matches.
