Quincy, Ill. – The Edinboro women's volleyball team dropped their first two matches of the Quincy Invitational Friday afternoon.
In the opener, the Scots fell 3-0 to host Quincy before dropping a 3-0 decision to Upper Iowa University in the nightcap.
Against Quincy, Edinboro dropped the opening two sets by identical 25-22 scores before falling 25-23 in the third.
Bella Burrelli paced the offense with 10 kills.
Kasey Smith and
Makayla Neelands each recorded six kills.
Laney Burns chipped in 17 assists while
Abigale Soboleski dished out 15.
Defensively,
Carly Pry recorded a team-high 15 digs while
Erika Lindqvist,
Natalie Pallone and Smith each notched four blocks.
In the second match, Upper Iowa took the first two sets 25-16 before winning the third 25-21.
Neelands led the Edinboro offense with 12 kills. Soboleski was the offensive trigger with 14 assists. Pry notched 16 digs and Smith tallied four more blocks.
The Scots wrap up the Quincy Invitational with a 4 p.m. match against Newman University on Saturday.
