Slippery Rock, Pa. – The Edinboro women's volleyball team dropped the first two sets before rallying to win the final three in a 3-2 PSAC West victory over Slippery Rock.
With Slippery Rock leading 2-0 and the third set tied 15-15,
Jessica Hardin and
Natalie Pallone scored back-to-back kills for Edinboro to take a slim 17-15 advantage. The Rock cut the lead to 18-17, but that was as close as they would get as the Scots picked up a 25-21 win in the third.
In the fourth, Edinboro carried the momentum and jumped out to an 11-3 lead out of the gate. The Scots pulled away for a 25-13 set win.
The fifth set was a see-saw affair with the score tied 13-13 after a Callie Chevalier service ace. Hardin gave the Scots a 14-13 advantage with a kill and Pallone finished off the match with a kill.
In the first set, Slippery Rock jumped out to a 9-1 lead on the way to a 25-10 win. In the second, Slippery Rock held 15-10 lead before three straight points from Edinboro cut the deficit to 15-13. The Rock closed out the set on a 10-2 run to take the second 25-15.
Pallone led all players with 18 kills.
Bella Burrelli tallied 14 kills while Hardin added 12.
Abigale Soboleski notched 27 assists while
Laney Burns dished out 19 helpers.
Erika Lindqvist and
Emelia Rowell each added two service aces.
Defensively,
Carly Pry notched a game-high 20 digs while Burrelli added 18. Lindqvist had three blocks and Hardin two.
The Scots are back in action on Friday when they host Clarion at 6 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
