California, Pa. – The Edinboro women's soccer team shutout host California (Pa.) 2-0 Saturday afternoon in PSAC West action at the Phillipsburg Complex.
The Fighting Scots struck first in the 28
th minute.
Allison Vescio played a ball into the top of the box and
Reece Enochs finished into the upper right corner to make it 1-0.
Edinboro would hold the 1-0 lead into the half and add an insurance marker early in the second.
Emily Vogel took a
Megan Malits pass and beat the diving keeper to push the advantage to 2-0.
The Fighting Scot held the Vulcans to just one shot on goal after that point to help goalkeeper
Kaylee Lauriel to her first clean sheet of the season.
Lauriel made four saves on the day earning her fifth career shutout.
Edinboro scored twice on 12 total shots with nine on goal. Enochs added three shots, two on goal, to her opening tally. Vogel made good on her only shot of the day and
Layne Kimple recorded two shots on net.
The Scots are back in action on Wednesday when they host Clarion at 6 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.
