Erie, Pa. – The Edinboro women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to host Gannon on Wednesday night at the Haggerty Family Events Center.
In the opening set, Gannon jumped out to a 10-2 lead and went on to take the set 25-12.
The Scots took a 5-4 lead in the second set, but the Golden Knights went on a 10-3 run to take a 14-8 lead. A pair of Gannon errors and a
Faith Schneider kill trimmed the lead to 14-11. Gannon answered with a 6-1 spurt taking a 20-13 lead and winning the set25-16.
In the third, Edinboro took a 10-9 lead on back-to-back kills by
Kasey Smith and Schneider. The Golden Knight scored the next three points to take a 12-10 lead. The Scots pulled even at 15-15 with a 5-3 spurt. The teams traded runs to a score of 22-22. Gannon scored two straight to take a 24-22 lead. Smith recorded a kill for the Scots, but the Golden Knights took the set 25-23.
Smith led the offense with 11 kills.
Makayla Neelands added eight kills while Schneider finished with seven.
Abigale Soboleski triggered the offense with 30 assists. Neelands and
Carly Pry each recorded a team-high 12 digs.
Halley Koch paced the Golden Knights with 12 kills. Bengisu Arslan led the offense with 34 assists. Emma Hall notched a team-high 13 digs.
The Scots return to action on Nov. 15 when they travel to Slippery Rock. Match time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
