Slippery Rock, Pa. – The Edinboro men's basketball team dropped a 90-73 decision to host Slippery Rock Wednesday night in PSAC West action.
The Rock got out to a 9-2 lead out of the gate after a Maceo Austin hit a jumper with 17:41 on the clock.
Daunte Wilcott and
Jack Gallagher scored back-to-back buckets for the Scots trimming the lead to 9-6. Slippery Rock went on a 9-2 run to take an 18-8 lead with 13:16 left in the first.
Wilcott scored a layup and
Ian McNeill notched a layup of his own to trim the lead to 18-12 at the 11:53 mark. The Rock answered with a 12-2 run pushing the lead to 20-14 with 9:06 on the clock. The Scots scored nine straight points keyed by seven from
Bernie Blunt to cut the advantage to 30-23. Edinboro kept the lead at seven, 38-31, before the Rock scored the last three points of the half to take a 41-31 lead into the locker room.
Slippery Rock pushed the lead to 13, 56-45, at the 14:02 mark on an Ike Herster jumper.
Easton Fulmer and Blunt each tallied buckets for the Scots to trim the lead to 56-47 with 12:26 remaining. The Rock pushed the lead back out to 65-51 with 9:19 to play and would keep the lead in double digits the rest of the way.
Blunt paced the offense with 21 points as well as three rebounds and one steal. Gallagher added 16 points, seven boards and three assists.
Madior Seye notched a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Fulmer chipped in 10 points off the bench.
Herster led the Rock with 23 points. Lashon Lindsey and Sheick Samoura each notched 13 points. Bobby Clifford and Austin added 11 points each.
The Scots close out the regular season on Saturday when they play host to California (PA) at 3 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
