Painesville, Ohio – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team dropped a hard-fought 11-10 decision to host Lake Erie Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
With the score tied 10-10, Madelyn Goodrich scored assisted by Corinne Shimek with 6 seconds left to give the Storm an 11-10 win.
Cynthia Saxby tied the game with 3:55 left in the third to tie the score at 7-7.
Jacqui Detelich answered with a goal a the 55 second mark of the third to give Edinboro an 8-7 advantage going to the fourth.
In the final frame, Reese Friesen tied the game just 46 seconds into the quarter.
Angelina Anderson scored unassisted and then set up
Emma Lamica to give the Scots a 10-8 advantage. Lake Erie scored a pair of unassisted tallies to knot the score 10-10.
The Storm jumped out early with the first four goals of the game.
Traci Culver cut the lead to 4-1 with a goal at the 1:00 mark of the first.
Rylee Jones scored a man-down goal assisted by
Kenna Sinisgalli at the 13:22 point of the second. Saxby pushed the lead to 5-2. The teams traded goals to end the second sending the game into the break with Lake Erie leading 6-3.
The Scots came out of the break and scored four straight goals from four different goal scorers to take a 7-6 lead.
Detelich led the offense with four points on three goals and one assist. Culver and Lamica each tallied two goals and one helper. Anderson tallied three points on a goal and two assists.
Addy Ours made seven saves and took the loss in net.
Saxby tallied four goals to lead the Storm offense. Goodrich chipped in three points on two goals and one assist. Bethany Kirkwood tallied the win making two saves.
The Scots are back in action next Wednesday when they travel to Seton Hill for their PSAC West opener. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
