Elkins, W.Va. – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-6 decision to host Davis & Elkins Monday morning in non-conference action.
Davis & Elkins jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Josephine Whorton and Izzie Sevila.
Jacqui Detelich scored the Scots first goal of the season unassisted at the 14:00 mark of the second quarter.
The Senators scored the next two goals to push the advantage to 4-1 with 12:15 remaining in the second. Edinboro tightened up defensively and
Kenna Sinisgalli and
Angelina Anderson each scored for the Scots trimming the halftime deficit to 4-3.
Davis & Elkins notched the first three goals of the third to take a 7-3 lead.
Rylee Jones ended the Senator run with an unassisted goal with 1:59 remaining in the third. Rylee Anderson closed the scoring in the third for Davis & Elkins making the score 8-4 after three.
In the fourth quarter, the Senators pushed the lead to 10-5 on a goal form Izzie Sevila. Jones cut the lead to 10-6 with 2:26 with an unassisted tally, but the Senators scored the final three goals to set the final.
Jones finished the game with three points on two goals and one assist. Anderson added a pair of goals while Detelich and Sinisgalli each scored once.
Ari Hinton paced the Davis & Elkins offense with three goals and two assists for five points. Sevila tallied three goals.
The Scots are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Virginia State. Game time is slated for 1:00 PM
