Edinboro, Pa.—The Edinboro women's lacrosse team tallied a 13-7 victory over visiting West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday afternoon in their first contest at Sox Harrison this season.
The Bobcats tied the game, 3-3, at the 13:31 mark of the second quarter on a Raveena Navalgood unassisted tally.
Jacqui Detelich broke the tie less than 30 seconds later finishing a pass from
Rylee Jones.
Traci Culver, Detelich and
Emma Lamica each tallied goals in the final seven minutes of the second to give the Scots a 7-3 advantage at the break.
Detelich buried her fourth of the game at the 12:25 mark of the third to extend the lead 8-3 Edinboro. Erin Mobley stopped the Edinboro run with a man-down goal with 11:38 left in the third. Culver and
Angelina Anderson scored at 6:07 and 2:45 extended the lead to 10-4. The Bobcats scored a the horn on a Mobley unassisted tally to trim the lead to 10-5 heading to the fourth.
Lexi Boyk opened the scoring in the fourth with an unassisted tally at 8:20. Wesleyan scored at the 7:23 mark, but Culver scored at 3:47 and Marissa Brichard notched her first career goal to push the lead to 13-6.
The Scots jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on goals by Jones and Detelich. Kailtyn Canby trimmed the lead to 2-1 before Jones picked up her second of the game making it 3-1 Edinboro after the first quarter.
Detelich paced the Scot offense with six points on four goals and two assists. Jones netted two goals and three helpers for five points while Culver notched three goals and an assist for four points.
Addy Ours made five saves while allowing six goals to pick up the win in the cage.
Mobley was the only Bobcat to record multiple points with three goals. Ella Gomez took the loss in net making 10 saves and allowing 10 goals.
The Scots are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Lake Erie. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
