Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Mercyhurst

Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team dropped a 19-6 decision to visiting Mercyhurst Tuesday afternoon in PSAC West action.
 
How it Happened
The Lakers scored the first three goals of the game  before Olivia Kaminsky found Rylee Jones with 3:30 left in the first to cut the lead to 3-1. Mercyhurst answered with a pair of goals in the quarter's final 30 seconds to take a 5-1 lead after one.
 
Mercyhurst scored to open the second on a goal by Marlee Antinora. Jones picked up her second of the game at the 13:52 mark to cut the lead to 6-2. The Lakers scored at the 10:11 mark and Jacqui Detelich answered right back to pull the Scots back within four, 7-3, with 7:20 left in the second. The Lakers scored the next three goals to grow the advantage to 10-3. Marissa Birchard scored with 53 seconds on the clock to cut the halftime deficit to 10-4.
 
 In the second half, the teams traded goals to open the third with Traci Culver recording a woman-up goal at the 11:54 mark. The Lakers scored the next five goals to open up the lead and secure the win.
 
Stat Leaders
Jones led the Scot offense with three points on two goals and an assist. Culver found the back of the net twice. Birchard tallied two points on a goal and an assist.
 
In Net
Addy Ours took the loss in net allowing 18 goals while making nine saves. Sydney Kosko made three saves in her seven minutes of relief.
 
Up Next
The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Lock Haven for a 12 p.m. contest with the Bald Eagles.
