Mount Olive, N.C. – The Edinboro volleyball team went 1-1 on the final day of the Mount Olive Invitational Saturday afternoon.
The Scots dropped their opener to Lenoir-Rhyne 3-1 before topping Concord 3-1 in their final match of the tournament.
In the opening match the Scots trailed 24-21 in the opening set. The Scots scored three straight to push the set beyond 25 where the Scots would take a 30-28 decision with
Erika Lindqvist picking up a solo block for the set clinching point.
The Bears took the second 25-13 to level the match 1-1. The Scots built a 15-10 lead after a Lenior-Rhyne attack error. The Bears went on a 13-1 run to take a 23-16 lead and took the set 25-17. The Bears closed out the match with a 25-19 win in the third.
Makayla Neelands notched a team-high 22 kills. Lindqvist added six kills and a team-high five blocks.
Abigale Soboleski notched 21 assists and
Laney Burns chipped in 19 helpers.
Against Concord, Edinboro got off to a fast start jumping out to a 16-10 lead in the first set. The Scots went on to win the first 25-17 with Lindqvist scoring the clinching kill.
The Scots trailed 17-16 in the second, but the Scots scored six straight led by two kills each from Neelands and
Jessica Hardin to take a 22-17 lead. Concord battled back to trim the lead to 23-22, but a pair of Hardin kills gave the Scots a 25-22 set win.
Concord scored a 28-26 win in the third, but the Scots answered and closed out the match with a 25-17 victory in the fourth.
Neelands tallied 28 kills and 18 digs both team-highs. Hardin notched 19 kills, four aces and 10 digs. Soboleski dished out 31 assists and Burns added 28. Lindqvist posted six blocks and
Emma Hiott added five stuffs.
The Scots are back in action on Friday with a trip to the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Frostburg State.
