Edinboro, Pa. – Behind a career-high 27 points from freshman guard
Evan Berger, the Edinboro men's basketball team ran past Bryant & Stratton College 99-62 Wednesday night inside McComb Fieldhouse.
The Bobcats got out to an early lead 6-2 after a Jaylen Terrell layup at the 17:17 mark. The Scots answered with an 8-0 run to take a 10-6 lead on a
Ryan Ladjevich 3-pointer with 15:42 left in the first half.
Greg Thurman cut the lead to 10-8 with a layup on the ensuing possession. The Scots seized control with 16 straight points capped by a Ladjevich and-one to make the score 26-8 with 8:46 on the clock. Byrant & Stratton trimmed the lead to 14, 34-20, at the 2:56 mark before Edinboro closed the half with a 7-2 spurt to take a 41-22 lead into the break.
The Scot lead grew to 34, 62-28, after a pair of
Cenker Evran at 14:58. The Edinboro lead didn't shrink below 30 the rest of the way.
In addition to his 27 points, Berger added five rebounds and two blocks. Evran added a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards to go with two blocks and two assists. Ladjevich tallied 16 points and eight rebounds.
Michael Dunn also reached double figure scoring with 11 points.
The Scots held a 45-29 advantage on the boards and recorded assists on 20 of 37 made field goals. Edinboro shot 53.6 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from beyond the arc.
Edinboro returns to action next Wednesday with a trip to Seton Hill. Tip off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
