Men’s Basketball Scores PSAC West Victory Over Slippery Rock

Slippery Rock, Pa. – A balanced scoring effort saw five Scots score in double figures as the Edinboro men's basketball team topped Slippery Rock 74-64 in PSAC West play Wednesday night.
 
The Fighting Scots trailed 15-14 at the 10:24 mark of the first half. Cenker Evran and Daunte Wilcott each hit a layup to put Edinboro ahead 18-15. O'Meech Wilson cut the lead to 18-17 with a layup. The Scots responded with a 12-4 run capped by a Michael Dunn 3-pointer to take a 30-21 lead with 6:08 left in the first half.
 
Bobby Clifford scored a layup for the Rock to cut the lead to 30-23. A Wilcott free throws and layups from Bryce Baez and Evran extended the lead to 35-25 with 1:40 to play in the first. A Day Waters and-one cut the Edinboro lead to 25-28 at the break.
 
Steve Kelly scored the first five points of the second half to extend the Edinboro lead to 40-28 at the 18:50 mark. The Rock went on a 6-0 run to trim the lead to 40-34 with 17:19 to play. Evran put the Scots back up 10, 46-36, with his layup with 15:33 on the mark.
 
Slippery Rock cut the lead to four, 48-44, with an 8-2 run capped by a Mack Staunch layup with 12:36 to play. A pair of Ryan Ladjevich free throws and a Wilcott layup pushed the Edinboro lead back to 52-45. The Rock used a 6-2 run to cut the lead to 54-51 with 8:47 on the clock.
 
The Scots responded with a Jonathan Anderson 3-pointer and Wilcott layup to extend the lead back to 59-51 with 7:07 left. Ike Herster cut the lead to 63-57 with a layup at the 3:13 mark. An Evan Berger trey and Ladjevich layup pushed the Scots back up 68-58 with 2:11 showing on the clock. Edinboro went 6-of-6 at the line in the final minute to salt away a win.
 
Wilcott led the Edinboro offense with 12 points to go with eight rebounds and four assists. Evran notched another double-double with 10 points and 18 rebounds. Kelly finished with 11 points while Ladjevich and Anderson each chipped in 10.
 
Waters led the Rock with 24 points. Herster finished with 16 points and five rebounds. Luke Howes added 10 points.
 
The Scots return to action on Friday when they host Clarion at 7 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
