Felton’s Last Second Goal Lifts Women’s Soccer Past Clarion

Clarion, Pa. – Madison Felton buried a free kick into the upper right corner of the net with 44 seconds remaining in the game to push the Edinboro women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over host Clarion Wednesday night in PSAC West action.

The Scots trailed 1-0 in the second half when Jada Cole struck with the equalizer. Grace Madison pushed the ball forward to Samantha Saylor. Saylor sent the ball into the right side of the box and Cole chipped the ball past the goalkeeper to level the score.

With time winding down, the Golden Eagles committed a foul on a throw in giving Edinboro a free kick. Felton stepped up and deposited the free kick over the outstretched keeper to give the Scots the lead.

Paige Brewer opened the scoring in the 19th minute assisted by Evelyn Cook. Clarion would take that lead into the break and hold it until Cole tied the game in the 76th minute.

The Scots capitalized on their chances scoring twice on their three shots on net. Cole and Felton each tallied a shot on goal as did Teaghan Watkins. Brianna Garey made eight saves to pick up the win in net.

The Scots return home to host Seton Hill on Saturday at 1 p.m.
