Volleyball Takes Straight Set Decision over Seton Hill

Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro volleyball team tallied a 3-0 PSAC West victory over Seton Hill on Friday night inside McComb Fieldhouse.
 
In the opening set, the Scots jumped out to a 5-1 lead. Seton Hill answered with a 3-1 spurt to cut the lead to 6-4. Edinboro pushed the lead to 14-7 keyed by a pair of Emma Hiott kills and a block from Faith Schneider and Makayla Neelands. The lead grew to 19-18 with Schneider leading the way with three kills and a service ace. The Scots held off a late push from the Griffins to take the set 25-18.
 
Edinboro trailed 10-6 in the second set, before a Reilly Parent kill and a Seton Hill error made it 13-11 Griffins. Seton Hill extended the lead back to 16-12 with a Payton Rodberg kill. The Scots responded with an 8-1 run capped by a Hiott kill to take a 20-17 lead. The Griffins grabbed a 24-23 lead on a Scot attack error, but two Parent kills sandwiched a Hiott kill to give the Scots a 26-24 victory and a 2-0 lead in the match.
 
With the score 7-6 Edinboro in the third, the Scot offense took over going on an 11-2 run to take an 18-8 lead. Seton Hill trimmed the lead to 21-15, but the Scots closed out the match 25-17 on a kill from Hiott.
 
Schneider paced the offense with 12 kills and a .320 hitting percentage. Parent also reached double figure kills with 10 to go with nine digs. Laney Burns triggered the offense with 21 assists and tied for the team lead in digs with 11. Grace Petro chipped in 18 helpers.
 
Klaresajane Sivas added 11 digs. Maggie Koster led the block with three block assists.
 
The Scots return to action on Saturday when they host California (PA) at 5 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
