Football Closes Out Regular Season at Millersville

Millersville, Pa. -- The Edinboro football team wraps up regular season play on Saturday with a noon kickoff at Millersville.

LAST TIME OUT EDINBORO
The Fighting Scots ran their record to 6-4 overall and 5-1 in the PSAC West after a convincing 38-8 victory over Slippery Rock last Saturday. The ground game was dominant racking up 355 yards led by Caron Robinson with 31 carries for 273 yards and two touchdowns.Nico Marchitelli added five carries for 65 yards. Bo Swarts turned his three carries into a pair of scores. Nate Deanes paced the defense with six tackles, four solo and 1.0 for a loss. The Scots limited Slippery Rock to just 38 yards rushing on 22 carries. 

LAST TIME OUT MILLERSVILLE
The Marauders slipped to 0-10 overall and 0-7 in PSAC East play after falling 45-21 to East Stroudsburg last Saturday. Millersville jumped out 14-0 in the first quarter but the Warriors scored 38 straight points to open up a lead and hold on for the victory. Brett Nye finished hte game 12-of-21 for 106 yards two touchdowns and three interceptions. Mekhi Ashby rushed for a team-leading 83 yards. Bryce Beutler tallied 12 tackles to lead the Millersville defense.

HONOR ROLL
Week 10 saw a Fighting Scot in the PSAC Weekly honors for the third straight week. Caron Robinson rushed 31 times for 273 yards and two touchdowns as the Scots defeated Slippery Rock 38-8. Robinson is the first Scot to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors since Jaret Frantz did so in Week 0.
The Scots list of conference honors grew in Week 9 with Nate Deanes earning PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week honors making nine tackles, forcing a fumble and recovering a fumble that he returned 70 yards for a touchdown.
Sunday Ikegwuonu earned PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week honors in Week 8. He made three tackles with 2.5 tackles per loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery against Gannon.
In his first action of the season against Clarion, Daunte White recorded nine tackles with six solo stops. He also tallied 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. He helped the Scots pitch a second-half shutout of Clarion in the Scots 21-20 victory. The 4.5 tackles for loss is the most since Victor Hudson recorded 6.5 TFLs in 2016.
The Scots earned a pair of PSAC Player of the Week honors in Week 0. Jaret Frantz hauled in touchdowns of 11 yards, 11 yards and 12 yards as part of a six catch 78 yard day against East Stroudsburg to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors. Ricco Sastoque averaged 52.0 yards per punt including a long of 62 and pinned the Warriors inside the 20 twice to earn Special Teams Player of the Week Honors.

GROUND GAME
Caron Robinson crossed over 100 yards for the third time in the last five games ripping off 273 yards and an 8.8 per carry average against Slippery Rock on Saturday.  Robinson was the most by a Fighting Scot rusher since Walter Fletcher went for 328 yards against Seton Hill on Oct. 18, 2018. Robinson currently ranks 34th in the nation and fourth in the PSAC with an average of 85.4 yards per game. 

HIDDEN YARDS
The Scots have committed the fourth fewest penalties in Division II with 43.  Their 38.1 penalty yards per game ranks fifth in Division II and first in the PSAC.

REDZONE OFFENSE
The Scots have been solid in the redzone scoring an 91.4 percent rate mark that is ninth in the nation and first in the PSAC. Bo Swartz has been a redzone weapon for the Scots scoring seven rushing touchdowns this season. 

RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME
Montrice Webster has a nose for the football as a defensive lineman recovering three fumbles the season tying him for second in the country and first in the PSAC. 

DEFENSIVE TOUCHDOWNS
Deanes scored the second defensive touchdown of the season for the Scots when he scooped up a Ky'Ron Craggette fumble and raced 70 yards for a touchdown.
Against Bloomsburg, Amari Jones intercepted KJ Riley and returned it 87 yards for a touchdown. It was the first interception that went back for a touchdown since Toby Cline posted a pick six against Slippery Rock on November 5, 2022.
