Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's volleyball team scored a 3-0 victory over Clarion Friday night inside McComb Fieldhouse.
The Scots held a 5-3 advantage after an
Emma Hiott kill. Clarion took the lead 13-11 after a Scot attack error. Edinboro responded with a 5-2 spurt to take a 16-15 lead. Raegan Stader leveled the score 16-16 with a kill. A
Maggie Koster kill and Clarion error gave the Scots an 18-16 lead. The teams traded points to a 22-20 advantage for the Scots. Hott tallied a kill and two Golden Eagle errors gave the Scots a 25-20 set win.
In the second, Edinboro jumped out 4-0 after a pair of
Makayla Neelands service aces. Clarion responded with a 4-1 spurt of their own to trim the advantage to 5-4. The Scots reeled off seven straight points to build a 12-4 lead. Edinboro kept the Golden Eagles at a distance closing out the set with a 25-16 victory.
The Scots carried momentum straight into the third set opening with a 5-1 lead. Edinboro's lead continued to build the lead with a 9-4 spurt pushing the advantage to 14-5. The Scot lead grew to 18-8 after a Golden Eagle service error. Clarion pulled within 24-20 before Neelands ended the match with a kill.
Reilly Parent tallied 12 kills to lead the offense. Neelands added 10 kills and a team-leading 10 digs.
Faith Schneider added eight kills.
Grace Petro tallied 19 assists while
Laney Burns chipped in 15 helpers.
The Scots close out the season against Slippery Rock on Saturday. Match time is slated for 4 p.m.
