Men’s Basketball Scores Home Victory over Roberts Weselyan

Edinboro, Pa. – Behind 30 points from Mekhi Reynolds, the Edinboro men's basketball team notched an 86-64 victory over Roberts Weselyan inside McComb Fieldhouse.
 
The Scots trailed 22-10 after Khalik Gardner scored for Roberts Wesleyan at the 12:16 mark of the first half. Edinboro responded with 15 straight points capped by a 3-pointer from Reynolds at the 6:26 mark. Trey Kleitz tied the game with his own trey on the next possession. Rowan Carmichael put Edinboro back on top connecting from long range after Bryce Baez kicked out an offensive rebound. Kleitz tied the game with an and-one and Keonjay Carter gave the Red Hawks a 30-28 lead with a jumper with 3:25 left in the first half. Ibrahim Robinson tied the game with a layup sparking a 10-0 run to finish the half and send the Scots into the locker room up 40-30.
 
Roberts Wesleyan clawed back scoring the first six points of the second half to trim the lead to 40-34 at the 18:00 mark. Amaan Sandhu stopped the Red Hawk run with a layup to make it 42-36 with 17:16 on the clock.
 
After a Red Hawk free throw, a Carmichael jumper and a pair of Evan Berger free throws extended the lead to 46-38 with 15:42 left to play. Roberts Wesleyan went on an 11-4 run to cut the Edinboro lead to 50-49 at the 13:17 mark.
 
Carmichael connected on a trey to push the lead to 53-49. Carter completed an old-school 3-point play to pull within 53-52. Baez made the lead 55-52 with a layup at the 11:52 mark.
 
After a Jaden Battle triple tied the game, the Scots locked up the Red Hawks defensively and found their offense going on a 17-0 run led by 10 points from Reynolds to take a 72-55 lead with 4:08 to play. The lead never fell below 15 the rest of the way.
 
Reynolds added seven rebounds and an assist to his career-high 30 points. Baez tallied a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds including eight offensive boards. Carmichael added 12 points and Robinson added 11 points and six boards.
 
Callin Woods led the Red Hawks with 15 points. Carter and Gardner each chipped in 12 points.
 
The Scots are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Malone for a 7 p.m. contest with the Pioneers.
