Findlay, Ohio – The Edinboro women's basketball team dropped a 75-52 decision to host Findlay Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Oilers jumped out early scoring the first seven points of the game after Allie Stockton split a pair of free throws. Back-to-back layups by
Ava Haddad trimmed the lead to 7-4 with 6:19 left in the first quarter. Lauren Auchmuty capped an 11-4 spurt for Findlay with a 3-pointer to make it 18-8 with 1:46 left in the first. Haddad scored at 1:28 to close the gap to 18-10 before the Oilers scored the final eight points of the quarter to take a 26-10 lead into the second quarter.
The Findlay lead grew to 34-14 at the 6:35 mark of the second on a pair of Ariyah Douglas free throws. The Scots closed the gap with a 7-2 spurt capped by a pair of
Carla Brown free throws to trim the lead to 36-21. Findlay answered with four straight points to take a 40-21 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, Findlay opened the third with a 19-4 run extending the lead to 59-25 after an Auchmuty triple.
Kassie Potts hit a trey at the 2:40 mark to cut the lead to 59-28. The Oiler lead was 64-31 heading to the final quarter.
The Scots opened the fourth with a 13-4 run cutting the lead to 68-44 on a Haddad layup. Ella Mescher pushed the lead back to 70-44 with a jumper of her own at the 5:28 mark. Edinboro got as close as 72-52 at the 1:26 mark on a
Rachael Manfredo layup, but Madison French hit a 3-pointer setting the final.
Haddad led the offense with 23 points to go with four rebounds, a block and an assist. Potts added 10 points, two boards, a helper and a steal.
Auchmuty paced the Oilers with 15 points and MacKenzie Schulz added 10. Stockton pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Scots are back in action on Wednesday when they host Charleston at 2 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse. Admission on Wednesday is free and Edinboro Athletics requests that you bring a non-perishable food item or make a donation to Make-A-Wish.
