Women’s Basketball Tops Charleston in Non-Conference Tilt

Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball team scored a 61-49 victory over visiting Charleston Wednesday afternoon inside McComb Fieldhouse.

Edinboro carried that momentum into the second hitting 3-pointers on each of their first four possessions to extend the lead to 26-13 on a Manfredo triple at the 7:52 mark. Charleston chipped away at the lead going on an 8-1 run cutting the advantage to 27-21 with 4:17 remaining in the second. Ava Haddad extended the Edinboro lead to 29-21 with a layup at 2:58. The Golden Eagles pulled within 31-26 after a Livia O'Dea layup at the 1:16 mark. Edinboro pushed the advantage to 36-26 with five straight points and Noelle Polanco completed an and-one to send the teams to the locker room with Edinboro up 36-29.

The third quarter was a defensive struggle as both teams turned up the pressure. The Scots came out of it with a 9-6 advantage and a 45-35 lead heading to the final quarter.

Charleston cut the lead to five, 51-46, at the 5:52 mark of the fourth on a Bridget Womber free throw. The Scots pulled away scoring the next 10 points to open up a 61-46 lead after a Hope Garrity jumper with 47 seconds to play.
