Volleyball Falls to Seton Hill

Greensburg, Pa. – The Edinboro women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Seton Hill on Saturday afternoon in PSAC West action.
 
With the score tied 3-3 in the first set, Seton Hill went on a 5-1 spurt to pull ahead 8-4 after a pair of Edinboro hitting errors. The Scots fought back with a 4-1 run of their own cutting the lead to 10-9 on a Makayla Neelands kill. The teams went back and forth with the Griffins holding a 14-13 lead. Seton Hill reeled off three straight to extend the lead to 17-13. Kills from Reilly Parent and Elles van Kallenburg trimmed the lead to 17-15. Seton Hill went on a 4-1 run to extend the lead to 21-16. Neelands notched a kill to cap a 3-0 spurt that cut the lead to 21-19, but Seton Hill held off the Edinboro push to take the first 25-22.
 
The second set saw the score tied 5-5 after an Emma Hiott kill. The Griffins ripped off the next five points to go up 10-5. The Scots answered with a 4-1 run to trim the advantage to 11-9, but Seton Hill answered with a 6-2 spurt of their own to push the lead to 17-11. Edinboro rallied and Faith Schneider notched a kill to give the Scots a 19-18 lead. After a Griffin timeout, Seton Hill regained the lead with five straight points to go up 23-19. A kill by Schneider and a block from Parent and Maggie Koster cut the lead to 23-21. Seton Hill took the next two points and the set 25-23.
 
The Griffins opened the third up 8-3 after a Haley Reed service ace. The Scots scored the next three points to cut the lead to 8-6 before a 7-1 Seton Hill run made it 15-7. The Griffins kept the Scots at arm's length to win the third 25-14.
 
Parent tallied nine kills to lead the offense. Neelands added seven and Koster, Schneider and van Kallenburg each had six. Grace Petro notched 17 set assists. Neelands had a team-high 11 digs.
 
The Scots are back in action on Friday when they host Clarion at 6 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
