Men’s Basketball Falls to Millersville

Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro men's basketball team dropped an 85-73 decision to visiting Millersville Tuesday evening inside McComb Fieldhouse.
 
The Marauders jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after a Eleazar Matthews-Spratley 3-pointer. Edinboro answered back with a 14-6 run capped by an Amaan Sandhu triple at the 13:49 mark to take a 14-13 lead. Millersville retook the lead using an 11-2 spurt to take a 24-16 lead with 7:11 on the clock.
 
Mekhi Reynolds scored the next six points for the Scots and Rowan Carmichael hit a pair of 3-pointers to put Edinboro ahead 28-26 at the 4:07 mark. Day Waters hit a jumper, Carnell Henderson hit a free throw and Cesar Tchilombo made a layup to give the Marauders a 31-28 lead going into the break.
 
Millersville pushed the lead to 40-33 after an Amir Cunningham free throw with 16:54 left to play. Carmichael hit a pair of triples to pull the Scots within 40-39 with 15:29 on the clock. Tchilombo hit a pair of free throws to extend the lead to 42-39. Evan Berger tied the game with a triple on the next Scot possession.
 
Spratley hit a 3-pointer and Hurst made a layup to give the Marauders a 47-42 lead with 14:02 to play. Berger hit a trey and Reynolds a layup to knot the score 47-47 with 13:23 to play. The Marauders took a 55-51 lead at the 11:37 mark after a pair of Day Waters free throws. Carmichael and Ibrahim Robinson each hit layups to tie the score 55-55 at the 11:04 mark.
 
The Marauders went on a 12-2 run capped by a Spratley bucket to make the score 67-57 with 5:53 to play. Edinboro battled back with a 13-6 spurt of their own trimming the lead to 73-70 with 2:40 on the clock after a Wilson-Daniel Charlot layup. Millersville closed the game on a 12-3 run to take the victory.
 
Carmichael led the Edinboro offense with 21 points including shooting 7-of-10 from beyond the arc while also adding four assists. Berger tallied 21 points and eight rebounds. Reynolds added 11 points, seven assists and four rebounds.
 
Waters paced the Millersville offense with 23 points. Spratley finished with 18 points, five assists and two rebounds.
 
The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Shepherd for a 3 p.m. contest with the Rams.
