Shepherdstown, W.Va. – The Edinboro men's basketball team dropped an 83-64 decision to host Shepherd Saturday afternoon in PSAC crossover action.
The Scots held a 4-2 lead early after an
Amaan Sandhu layup at the 18:56 mark. The Rams went on a 22-8 run to build a 24-12 lead after a Colby White 3-pointer.
Rowan Carmichael hit a trey to cut the lead to 24-15 with 7:53 left in the opening half. Shepherd scored the next six points to push the lead to 30-15 with 6:00 left in the first.
Rocco Spadafora hit a 3-pointer at the 5:10 mark to cut the lead to 30-18. The half ended with a 13-6 spurt by the Rams to take a 43-24 lead into the locker room.
The Shepherd lead grew to 47-26 with 17:34 on the clock in the second half after an Elwyne Wordlaw bucket.
Evan Berger hit a triple at 14:07 capping a 10-4 spurt to cut the lead to 51-36. The lead grew back to 67-44 on another Wordlaw trey with 5:56 to play.
Edinboro scored the next 10 points to close the gap to 13, 67-54, with
Mekhi Reynolds hitting a 3-pointer at the 4:08 mark. Shepherd went on a 11-3 spurt extending the lead to 78-57 with 1:06 to play and seal the victory.
Carmichael led the offense for the Scots with 17 points to go with two rebounds and two steals. Reynolds tallied 16 points, three helpers and two rebounds. Sandhu also scored in double figures with 12 points as well as grabbing six boards.
Wordlaw paced the Rams with 25 points. Brody Davis notched 18 points and Banks finished with 17.
The Scots are back in action with a 3 p.m. tipoff at Shippensburg on Sunday.
