Shippensburg, Pa. – The Edinboro men's basketball team defeated host Shippensburg 86-78 Sunday afternoon in PSAC crossover action on Sunday.
The Raiders came out of the gate fast scoring the first nine points of the contest with Markus Frank making it 9-0 with a layup at 17:51. Edinboro responded with a 14-6 run to trim the lead to 15-14 after an
Evan Berger layup at the 12:24 mark.
Timmy Conner hit a 3-pointer push the lead to 18-14.
Mekhi Reynolds made a layup and Berger a pair of free throws to pull the Scots level 18-18 with 11:15 left in the first half. The Raiders scored the next five points to go back ahead 23-18 with 10:27 on the clock.

Ibrahim Robinson scored to trim the lead to 23-22 with 8:39 on the clock.
Amaan Sandhu gave the Scots their first lead of the gam with a layup at the 7:55 mark. Berger hit a triple capping a 9-0 run to push the Edinboro advantage to 27-23 with 7:20 left in the first.
Shippensburg tied the game 27-27 with 6:35 remaining in the opening half, before the Scots closed the half on an 18-8 run capped by a Reynolds trey gave Edinboro a 45-35 lead at the half.
Dakari Bradford extended the lead to 47-35 with a layup to open the scoring in the second half. The Raiders went on a 9-2 spurt to trim the lead to 49-44 with 15:54 to play. Reynolds and
Rowan Carmichael scored back-to-back buckets to give the Scots a 53-44 lead at the 15:06 mark. Ben Rill scored for Shippensburg to trim the lead to 53-46. Edinboro scored the next seven points including four from Sandhu to extend the lead to 59-46 with 12:43 showing on the clock.
The Scot lead was 12, 79-67, after a
Jonathan Anderson layup at the 2:45 mark. Shippensburg used a 7-1 spurt to cut the lead to 80-74 with 1:40 left. The Scots used solid free throw shooting to hold off the late push and secure the 86-78 victory.
Berger led the Fighting Scot offense with 23 points. He also tallied a team-high nine rebounds as well as three assists and two steals. Reynolds added 18 points and six helpers. Sandhu chipped in 16 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Carmichael was the fourth Scot in double figures with 11 points.
Frank paced the Raiders with 22 points and eight rebounds. Jaydan Smith added 20 points and five assists. Conner chipped in 12 points.
The Scots return to action on Jan.2 when they host Mansfield at 5 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
