Men’s Basketball Tallies Win Over Lock Haven in PSAC Opener

Lock Haven, Pa. – The Edinboro men's basketball team opened up PSAC play with a 74-61 road victory over Lock Haven on Saturday.
 
The Scots got off to a fast start scoring the first eight points of the including five points from Dakari Bradford. Lock Haven answered back and cut the lead to 18-12 with 11:12 left in the first half. Amaan Sandhu and Ibrahim Robinson combined for seven straight points to extend the lead to 25-12 with 7:42 on the clock.
 
Lock Haven went on a 9-2 spurt capped by a Luke Kennevan 3-pointer at the 4:45 mark to cut the lead to 27-21. Rowan Carmichael hit a triple and Sandu scored a two-pointer to push the lead to 32-21. The teams traded buckets and Dyllon Scott hit a 3-pointer for the Bald Eagles at the 10 second mark to cut Edinboro's halftime lead to 34-26.
 
At the 17:07 mark of the second half, Lock Haven closed the gap to 39-32 with a Nean Coleman-Newsome layup. The Scots scored the next eight points on a layup by Sandu and 3-pointers from Mehki Reynolds and Carmichael to extend the lead to 47-32. A 9-0 run from Lock Haven made it 47-41 with 12:54 to play.
 
Sandu hit a layup with 11:18 on the clock to extend the Edinboro advantage to 53-44. Lock Haven hit a pair of free throws to cut the lead to 53-46. Sandhu split a pair of free throws and Reynolds hit back-to-back layups to push the lead to 58-46. Carmichael added another layup at the 6:48 mark to push the Scot lead to 60-46.
 
Lock Haven cut the lead to 65-58 with 1:40 to go. Edinboro put the game away late with a 9-1 run capped by a Carmichael bucket with 11 seconds to play.
 
Carmichael paced the Edinboro offense with 20 points including shooting 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Reynolds added 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Sandhu finished with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Evan Berger just missed a double-double of his own with 11 points and nine rebounds.
 
Kennevan led the Bald Eagles with 18 points. Blake Deegan added a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards.
 
The Scots return to action on December 16 when they host Millersville at 5 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
