Women’s Lacrosse Drops Non-Conference Contest to Malone

North Canton, Ohio – Rylee Jones scored three times and broke the Edinboro career draw control record, but the Fighting Scot women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-7 decision to host Malone Thursday afternoon.
 
The Pioneers scored the first two goals of the game on tallies from Jarjia Mezo and Lexi Miller. Jones scored her first of the day at the 10:01 mark of the first quarter to cut the lead to 2-1. Malone scored twice more before the end of the quarter to take a 4-1 lead into the second.
 
Meg Ridgeway extended the lead to 5-1 with a goal 1:11 into the second quarter. Jacqui Detelich cut the lead to 5-2 with 6:19 left in the first half. Emma Wintz scored with 2:41 remaining in the second to push the lead to 6-2 going into the half.
 
Malone scored the first four goals of the third quarter to extend their advantage to 10-2. Jones stopped the run with an unassisted goal with 5:33 left in third quarter. Cam English added another for the Pioneers to make it 11-3 after three.
 
Jones opened the fourth quarter with her third goal of the game to trim the lead to 11-4 with 10:51 to play. A pair of goals from Malone made the scored 13-4 with 8:08 left. Traci Culver and Kenna Sinisgalli each scored to pull the Scots within 13-6 with 5:36 to go. Alana Samek and English each scored insurance goals for Malone to make it 15-6 at the 3:52 mark. Sinisgalli tallied her second goal of the day with 5 seconds to play to set the final.
 
Jones added three helpers to her three goals. She also tallied six draw controls earning her the Edinboro school record with 160 draw controls and counting. Sinisgalli was the other Scot to score multiple points with a pair of goals.
 
Addy Ours made nine saves in 45 minutes of work while Sydney Kosko made three saves in relief.
 
The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Tiffin. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m.
