Lock Haven, Pa. - The Edinboro women's lacrosse team fell 20-5 to Lock Haven Saturday afternoon at Charlotte E. Smith Field.
The Bald Eagles opened the match with three unanswered goals from Gabby Gunnip, Makayla Kelly, and Hadley Munn, with Emma Williams tallying two assists. With 09:49 on the clock, Rylee Jones scored an unassisted goal, bringing the score to 3-1. Lock Haven scored six more unanswered goals, ending the first quarter with a score of 9-1.
Lock Haven opened up the second quarter with a goal from Lexi Bunk, assisted by Nadia Baskot. Two minutes later Olivia Kaminsky, assisted by Jones, added a goal for the Fighting Scots, making the score 10-2. The Bald Eagles extended their lead with a goal from Addy Palm, assisted by Peyton Masters, and 45 seconds later Jones scored an unassisted goal for Edinboro. Lock Haven proceeded to score three unanswered goals, bringing the score to 14-3 as the teams headed into the locker rooms.
Gabby Gunnip started up the third quarter with an unassisted goal for the Bald Eagles, but Jones was quick to answer with a woman-up goal, assisted by Angelina Anderson. With 07:50 remaining in the third quarter, Jordan Ellis advanced Lock Haven to a 16-4 lead. Jacqui Detelich, assisted by Jones, made the last goal for the Fighting Scots. The quarter ended 17-5 with a goal from Peyton Masters, assisted by Lexi Bunk, with less than a minute left.
The fourth quarter was all Lock Haven, scoring three unanswered goals and ending the match 20-5 to the Bald Eagles.
Jones lead the offense with five points, five draw controls, three goals, and two assists. Detelich and Kaminsky each tallied one goal, and one point.
The Scots return to action on Tuesday when they host Slippery Rock for a 4 p.m. contest.
