Women’s Lacrosse Drops PSAC West Contest to Slippery Rock

Edinboro, Pa. - The Edinboro women's lacrosse team fell 19-6 to Slippery Rock Tuesday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium.

Slippery Rock opened the match with five unanswered and unassisted goals two each for Reagan Richeson and Grace Rotter, and one from Abby Fink. With 2:48 left on the clock, Rylee Jones scored the first goal of the game for the Fighting Scots with an assist from Jacqui Detelich. The Rock goes on to score two more goals to end the first quarter 7-1.

The second quarter was all Slippery Rock, as they scored six unanswered goals. With 11 minutes left in the quarter Erin Melcher, as well as Ella Koslowski assisted by Rotter, advanced The Rock to 9-1. At 6:54 Isabella Buono scored an unassisted goal, and 48 seconds later, Richeson with an assist from Rotter, scored her third goal of the match. Slippery Rock scored two goals with three minutes left, Ava Dossier assisted by Fink, and Melcher had her third goal of the game. As the teams headed into the locker rooms the scoreboard read 13-1.

The Rock started the third quarter with a goal from Laurelle Surette, assisted by Koslowski. With 10:40 left on the clock, an unassisted goal from Angelina Anderson ended the Slippery Rock streak of nine unanswered goals, making the score 14-2. Maddie Blazey had the last goal of the quarter, bringing it to a 15-2 lead for The Rock.

The fourth quarter started with an Edinboro goal from Marissa Birchard, assisted by Detelich, exactly 30 seconds into the quarter. Shannon Von Kaenel was quick to answer with an unassisted goal, but two minutes later Anderson advanced the Fighting Scots with another unassisted goal, making the score 16-4. Slippery Rock scored three consecutive goals from Lauren Petty assisted by Surette, as well as one each for Hailey Ohlsen and Cadyn Eismann. With less than four minutes left of the game, Detelich scored back-to-back goals, with one assist from Kenna Sinisgalli, the game ended 19-6.

Detelich lead the offense with four points, two goals, and two assists. Anderson tallied two goals and two points, and Jones was credited with six draw controls and one goal.

Addy Ours took the loss in the cage making ten saves in 45 minutes, Sydney Kosko made 2 saves in 15 minutes of relief work.

The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they host Seton Hill on their last home game of the season, as well as celebrating their seniors, for a 1 p.m. contest.
