CCA Women’s DII Tip-Off Classic: Participating Teams Announced

Erie, Pa --The Erie Sports Commission, in partnership with Gannon University and Edinboro Athletics, is proud to announce the eight teams that will make up the field for the 2025 CCA Women's D2 Tip-Off Classic, presented by AHN Sports Medicine and AHN Pavilion.

Joining hosts Edinboro and Gannon will be Ferris State University, Minnesota State University-Mankato, Northern Michigan University, PennWest California, Union University and University of North Georgia.

Each of these teams brings a strong track record of success: Minnesota won the NCAA DII Women's Championship in 2024; Union advanced to the NCAA DII Women's Final Four in 2025; Ferris advanced to the NCAA DII Women's Final Four in 2024; Gannon qualified for the NCAA DII Women's Elite Eight in 2024 and 2025; Edinboro was the No.1 seed for the 2025 NCAA DII Women's Basketball Atlantic Regional; North Georgia won the 2025 Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Tournament; Northern Michigan participated in the NCAA DII Women's Championship in 2024 and 2025; and PennWest California finished 2024-25 ranked ninth in the NCAA DII Women's Atlantic Region.

"We're excited to officially announce the outstanding lineup of teams for the 2025 CCA Tip-Off Classic," said Callie Wheeler, women's basketball head coach at Edinboro. "The caliber of competition speaks to the depth and talent of DII women's basketball. It's going to be a special weekend right here in Erie."

The event will take place Nov. 7-9 at the newly renovated Highmark Events Center at Gannon University and the McComb Fieldhouse at PennWest Edinboro University. A total of 12 games will be played over the course of the weekend, with each location hosting six games.

"Having played in the CCA Tip-Off Classic before, we know how competitive and meaningful this event is," said Cleve Wright, women's basketball head coach at Gannon. "It's one of the most prestigious early-season tournaments in DII women's basketball, and we're proud to welcome top teams from across the country to Erie, our campus and community."
