Football Travels to Bloomsburg

Bloomsburg, Pa. -- The Edinboro football team returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Bloomsburg for a PSAC crossover matchup with the Huskies at Redman Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT EDINBORO
The Scots are coming a 34-0 loss to No. 4 Kutztown at Sox Harrison Stadium in Week 2. Edinboro is now 1-1 on the season. Nico Marchitelli finished the game 25-of-41 for 200 yards on the day. Jaret Frantz was the top target for the Scots hauling in nine passes for 70 yards. Gavin Ennis added eight grabs for 58 yards. Jerry Dinkins III was the leading rusher with 10 carries for 30 yards. Defensively, Ty Reali made eight tackles with a half tackle for loss. Amari Jones also made eight stops with 1.5 coming behind the line of scrimmage.  

LAST TIME OUT BLOOMSBURG
Bloomsburg fell to host Seton Hill 31-28 last Saturday dropping the Huskies to 0-2 on the season. The Griffins scored twice in the final four minutes to erase a 28-18 Bloomsburg lead in the fourth quarter. KJ Riley was 12-of-26 for 229 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 41 yards for the Huskies. Gabe Brower led the ground attack with 45 yards on just three carries. Brower was also the leading receiver hauling in five catches for 97 yards and a score. Defensively Cole Turner racked up 12 tackles, eight solo, and a pass break up. Garret Garcia added eight tackles. 

HONOR ROLL
The Scots earned a pair of PSAC Player of the Week honors in Week 0. Jaret Frantz hauled in touchdowns of 11 yards, 11 yards and 12 yards as part of a six catch 78 yard day against East Stroudsburg to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors. Ricco Sastoque averaged 52.0 yards per punt including a long of 62 and pinned the Warriors inside the 20 twice to earn Special Teams Player of the Week Honors.

THIRD DOWNS
Even with a dip in production from the season opener, the Scots still rank 19th in Division II and second in the PSAC in third down conversions at 50.0 percent. Defensively, Edinboro is holding opponents to .316 percent conversion rate ranking seventh in the PSAC.

BULLS EYE
Nico Marchitelli continues to be accurate with the football through his first two starts with the Fighting Scots. His .662 completion percentage is 26th in Division II and the third-best mark in the PSAC. The 21.5 completions per game ranks third in the conference and he spread the ball around to  six different targets with Frantz Hauling in 15 catches while DaeDae Allen  and Gavin Ennis have each recorded 11 catches.

RED ZONE DEFENSE
Edinboro ranks 10th in red zone defense in Division II and second in the PSAC holding opponents to .500 scoring. 

HOLDING THE BALL
The Scots lead the PSAC in time of possession averaging 34:42 of possession per game. That ranks 13th in Division II.

JARET FRANTZ
Frantz has led the Scot offense making 15 catches over the first two games including nine grabs for 70 yards last Saturday at Kutztown. He ranks 11th in the nation and atop the PSAC with 7.5 catches per game. His 74.0 receiving yards per game rank seventh in the PSAC. Frantz has hauled in three touchdown catches this season which is the third best mark in the conference and 11th in Division II.

HIDDEN YARDS
Ricco Sastoque ranks fifth in Division II and first in the PSAC in punting averaging 45.5 yards per punt. The Scots are ninth in the PSAC in net punting at 34.6 yards per punt. The Scots have committed seven penalties in two games ranking third in Division II for both total penalties and penalties per game. Edinboro leads the country averaging just 25.0 penalty yards per game.

NO FLY ZONE
The Edinboro defense has held opponents to just 147.5 yards per game through the air ranking fourth in the PSAC and 22nd in the nation. Nate Deanes ranks 11th in D-II in passes defended with 2.0 per game he also has one interception. 

FIRST TIME
The first two games of the season have seen several firsts for the Fighting Scots.  Matt Scott earned his first career head coaching win in Week 0. Nate Deanes recorded his  first collegiate interception against East Stroudsburg. Sunday Ikegwaunu tallied his first sack as a Fighting Scot against the Warriors.
