Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's soccer team notched a 3-1 victory over Pitt-Johnstown Saturday afternoon inside Sox Harrison Stadium.
In the 26
th minute,
Jada Cole was taken down in the box earning a penalty kick. Cole took the penalty and buried it in the lower right corner of the net, her fifth of the season, to give the Fighting Scots an early 1-0 lead. The Scots would take that advantage into the half.
In the second half, Cole scored her sixth of the year in the 55
th minute. On a through ball, the UPJ keeper came out and was forced to play the ball outside the 18 box.
Grace Madison touched the ball over to Cole who finished into an empty net extending the lead to 2-0.
Edinboro pushed the lead to 3-0 on an
Emily Vogel goal in the 72
nd minute. Cole came down the left side, entered the box and crossed the ball to Vogel for a finish into an open net. The Mountain Cats got on the board on a Rylee Fry goal in the 78
th minute.
Cole led the offense with two goals and one assist. Vogel added a goal and Grace a helper.
Brianna Garey made five saves picking up the win between the posts.
The Scots are back in action on Wednesday when they host Gannon at 7 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.
