Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision to No. 7 Gannon on Wednesday in PSAC West action inside Sox Harrison Stadium.
The Golden Knights struck first when Brooklyn Respecki found Olivia Dixon alone on the back post in the 17
th minute.
Edinboro pulled even in the 36
th minute.
Noelle Dubnicka turned a turnover into a one-touch pass springing
Jada Cole into the open. Cole beat the goaltender to the lower left evening the score 1-1.
In the second half, it was Respecki that broke the tie taking a shot from just inside the 18 box. Edinboro keeper
Brianna Garey got a piece but the ball bounced inside the right post to make it 2-1 Gannon in the 61
st minute.
Cole scored in her fifth straight game while Dubnicka picked up her first collegiate point with the assist.
Maggie Hays tallied three shots. Garey made 12 saves in net.
The Scots return to action on Saturday when they visit California (Pa.). Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
