Painesville, Ohio – The Edinboro women's soccer team fell 1-0 to host Lake Erie Thursday night in the Scots season opener.
 
The Storm got on the board at the 6:07 mark on an unassisted goal from Leonie Witt. Edinboro pushed back recording four shots and three corners before the break but went to the locker room down 1-0.
 
The teams played a scoreless second half with Edinboro putting two of their three shots on goal and earning a pair of corners but couldn't find the equalizer.
 
Samantha Saylor and Sonoka Shiokawa each tallied two shots with one on goal for the to lead the Edinboro offense. Brianna Garey made her first collegiate start in net making four saves.
 
The Scots return to action on Saturday when they host Ursuline College at 1 p.m. inside Sox Harrison Stadium.
