Women’s Basketball Slated for Pair of PSAC West Contests

Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball team will play two PSAC West contests against IUP and Seton Hill this week.
 
The Games
The Scots travel to IUP on Wednesday against the PSAC West leading Crimson Hawks. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on the PSAC Digital Network and IUP Athletics will provide live stats. On Saturday, Edinboro hosts Seton Hill at 1 p.m. with a broadcast on the PSAC Digital Network and Edinboro Athletics providing live stats. Tickets can be purchased here for the Scots home contest on Saturday.
 
Last Time Out
Edinboro ran their record to 11-7 overall and 8-1 in the PSAC West with a 69-45 victory over California on the road Saturday afternoon.
 
Rachael Manfredo led the Edinboro offense with 20 points to go with four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals. Taylor Blunt added 19 points, four boards, four steals and two dimes. Ava Haddad also scored in double figures with 12 points while grabbing five rebounds, two steals and two helpers.
 
Blunt Named Defensive Player of the Week
Blunt was named PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
 
Blunt was strong at both ends of the floor for the Fighting Scots in a pair of PSAC wins over Pitt Johnstown and Cal. She averaged 17.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per contest on the week. Against UPJ, she scored 15 points while grabbing five rebounds and three steals. In the Scots win over Cal she tallied 19 points, four steals, four rebounds and a blocked shot.
 
Being Efficient
The Scots rank 40th in the country and third in the PSAC in field goal percentage. Manfredo and Haddad have led that charge with Manfredo ranking 35th nationally and fifth in the conference at 53.8 percent shooting and Haddad at 38th nationally and sixth in the PSAC at 53.3 percent. Edinboro has also shot the three well ranking 25th in Division II and second in the league at 35.0 percent.
 
IUP
The Crimson Hawks are 15-0 overall and 9-0 in PSAC West play after scoring a 68-63 victory over Gannon on Saturday. Nyshae' Weaver led IUP with 17 points and 12 rebounds on Saturday. Ellie Wilkerson chipped in 17 points while Belle Bosch and Marin Miller each scored 10.
 
Seton Hill
The Griffins are 13-3 overall and 9-1 in PSAC West play coming off a 96-75 win over Slippery Rock. Hallie Cowan scored 27 points against the Rock to go with eight points and three assists. Helene Cowan added 23 points and six boards. Mia Kalich notched a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds. Seton Hill is idle on Wednesday ahead of the contest with the Scots.
