Fighting Scots Fall at Home Against Indiana (PA)

EDINBORO, Pa. — Edinboro lost to Indiana (PA) 3-0 on Friday at McComb Fieldhouse, falling by set scores of 24-26, 19-25 and 23-25. The Fighting Scots finished with 37 kills, six aces and six total blocks.

In the first, Indiana (PA) scored the first point, followed by the Scots moving in front 5-1 on a Reilly Parent's ace, two blocks involving Taylor Pucky and a third Indiana (PA) attack error. Indiana (PA) worked back to a 6-6 tie and later led 11-8, but kills by Maggie Koster and D'Aira Whitner helped the Fighting Scots pull even at 12-12. The teams traded points deep into the set, with the Scots tying it at 21-21 on Grace Petro's ace and Suncica Lekic's kill, then again at 22-22 and 23-23. Taylor Pucky's kill gave the Fighting Scots a 24-23 lead. Kyra Schmidt tied the set for Indiana (PA) late. Finally, Maddie Zechman's ace and Mikalah Kim's kill for Indiana (PA) took the opening set 26-24.

Indiana (PA) scored the first two points of the second set on Ellie Rauch's ace and a Charlotte Potvin kill. The Scots stayed close behind with kills from Whitner and Koster. The visitors remained in front through the middle of the set until the Fighting Scots drew even at 15-15 on a block by Lekic and Whitner. The Scots tied it again at 18-18 with a Whitner kill, and a Lekic-Pucky block. Indiana (PA) followed with four straight points to move ahead 22-18. Lekic stopped that run with a kill, but Indiana (PA) took the final three points to close the set 25-19.

The Fighting Scots worked back from an early 7-3 deficit, getting kills from Whitner and Pucky. Whitner's kill from Petro tied the set at 11-11. After the Scots tied it again at 14-14, Indiana (PA) used a Delaney Barto ace, multiple kills, and a block to move in front 20-15. Indiana (PA) stretched the margin to 22-16 on an Ellie Rauch ace. Koster and Petro helped cut the deficit during a three-point Fighting Scots push to 22-19, and Reilly Parent later added a kill and an ace. A Delaney Concannon attack error cut the gap to 23-22. Sammy Stephens gave Indiana (PA) set point with a kill. The Scots got back within one on a Kyra Schmidt attack error, but Indiana (PA) ended the set at 25-23 with a kill from Stephens. 

D'Aira Whitner led the Scots with 11 kills and added one block assist. Petro finished with a team-high 16 assists, five digs and a service ace. Schneider recorded 12 digs, five assists and three service aces. Lekic added three kills while hitting .333 and posted four block assists.
