EDINBORO, Pa. – Edinboro women's wrestling announced the addition of Shane McChesney to its coaching staff as the Fighting Scots prepare for their first season of NCAA postseason eligibility.

McChesney joins the Scots with 20 years of varsity coaching experience, including a 211-74 career record as a head coach at McDowell and Fort LeBoeuf High Schools. He guided both programs to appearances in the PIAA Team Wrestling Championship finals.

"We are extremely fortunate to have one of the most successful high school coaches in recent history join our program as we enter our first year of NCAA postseason eligibility," said head coach Ryan Cook. "Shane's track record of developing champions, and building winning teams speaks for itself. I have no doubt that his expertise will have an immediate impact on our student-athletes and further strengthen the culture we are building within Edinboro Women's Wrestling. We are excited to welcome Shane and his family to our program and community."

Most recently, McChesney served as the head coach at Fort LeBoeuf from 2021-2024, compiling a 48-18 record and earning District 10 Coach of the Year honors in 2023 and 2024. He previously served as the head coach at McDowell from 2009-2013, where he compiled a 163-56 record and captured three District 10 Team Championships. In 2024, McChesney also started and coached Fort LeBoeuf's inaugural girls wrestling team.

A Clarion University graduate, McChesney was a four-year starter for the Golden Eagles and a two-time team captain. He qualified for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in 2001.
