Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Emory & Henry

Emory, Va. – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team dropped a 9-7 decision to host Emory & Henry Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.
 
Angelina Anderson got the Scots on the board first with an unassisted tally in the first minute of the contest. The Yellow Jackets scored the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead on a Bethany Beecher tally with 6:01 remaining in the first quarter. Anderson netted her second of the game to cut the lead to 3-2 and Jacqui Detelich scored with 1:02 left in the first to send the game to the second tied 3-3.
 
After a slow start to the second, Detelich scored at the 8:00 mark to put Edinboro up 4-3. Natalia Farr extended the lead with an unassisted tally with 6:43 to play in the second. Whitney Holland scored for Emory & Henry to cut the lead to 5-4 at the half.
 
Detelich opened the scoring in the second half with an unassisted player advantage goal at the 10:47 mark of the third. The Yellow Jackets would score the last two goals of the third to send the game to the fourth tied 6-6.
 
Avery McHargue scored back-to-back goals in the fourth to put Emory & Henry up 8-6. Rylee Jones scored a player advantage goal to cut the lead to 8-7, but the Yellow Jackets added an insurance tally with 4:36 to play to set the final.
 
Detelich paced the Edinboro offense with three goals. Anderson finished with three points of her own on two goals and an assist.
 
Jones notched four draw controls and a pair of groundballs. Natalia Farr caused a pair of turnovers to lead the defensive efforts.
 
McHargue scored four times for the Yellow Jackets to lead the offensive effort.
 
The Scots are back in action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest at Davis & Elkins.
