Philadelphia – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team fell 11-7 to host Chestnut Hill on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Griffins came out and scored the first two goals of the game building a 2-0 lead at the 10:40 mark of the first quarter.
Natalia Farr got the Scots on the board with a free position goal with 8:08 on the clock.
Rylee Jones netted a goal with 29 seconds left to tie the game 2-2.
The Griffins grabbed the lead scoring four straight goals to open the second capped by a Carlee O'Donnell tally on a free position. Jones broke the run with an unassisted tally with 1:33 left in the second.
Jacqui Detelich cut the lead to 6-4 at the half scoring with 40 seconds remaining.
Kendall Gayton pushed the Chestnut Hill lead to 7-4 at the 10:14 mark of the third. Samantha Martin added a pair of player-up goals to send the game to the fourth with the Griffins up 9-4.
Liza Bonderchuk scored a player-down goal to 32 seconds into the fourth to cut the lead to 9-5. Detelich scored her second of the contest to trim the lead to 9-6 with 13:51 to play. Eliabeth Deal answered for Chestnut Hill with a goal at the 11:46 mark. Ziola Giarmita pulled the Scots within 10-7 with 8:03 remaining, but Deal scored again with 7:47 on the clock to set the final.
Jones led the Edinboro offense with three points on two goals and an assist. Detelich added a pair of goals.
Olivia Kaminsky tallied five draw controls. Bondarchuk and
Angelina Anderson each picked up a pair of ground balls.
Addy Ours took the loss in the cage making 10 saves on the day.
The Scots open PSAC West play on Saturday with a trip to Lock Haven. Game time is slated for noon.
