Women’s Lacrosse Scores Victory at Point Park

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Natalia Farr scored six goals to lead the Edinboro women's lacrosse team to a 14-10 win over Point Park on Thursday night at Highmark Stadium.
 
The Scots trailed 3-2 after the first quarter. Edinboro leveled the score with the player advantage on a Marissa Birchard tally with 12:21 on the clock. The Scots scored again with the extra attacker at the 9:10 mark to pull ahead 4-3 on a goal by Jacqui Detelich.
 
Ziola Giaramita scored twice more before the end of the second quarter to send the Scots into the half leading 6-3.
 
Farr scored the first two goals of the second half both with the player advantage to extend the lead to 8-3 with 11:15 left in the third. The Pioneers scored the next three goals to close the gap to 8-6 with 5:08 remaining in the third.
 
The teams traded goals with Olivia Kaminsky and Farr scoring for the Scots and Kiley Leasure and Andrea Kinger scoring for Point Park. Edinboro took a 10-8 lead into the final frame.
 
Alexandra Hrkach trimmed the lead to 10-9 a minute and a half into the fourth, but back-to-back player up goals from Detelich and Farr extended the lead to 12-9. The Pioneer cut it to 12-10 with 10:58 to play, but Claire Kennedy and Farr tacked on insurance tallies to secure the win.
 
Farr scored her six goals on 11 shots with 10 on net. She also scooped up six groundballs and controlled four draws. Angelina Anderson tallied five points on one goal and four assists. Detelich and Giaramita each finished with two goals and two assists.
 
Kinger paced the Pioneers with three goals and one assist. Leasure added three goals.
 
The Scots are back in action next Thursday when they travel to Emory & Henry for a 4 p.m. contest.
