Carayol Earns PSAC Honors for Edinboro Women’s Tennis

The Edinboro women's tennis team capped a competitive 2025–2026 campaign with postseason recognition and strong individual performances, highlighted by senior Cecelia Carayol earning PSAC West First Team All-Conference honors.

One of the top players in the conference, Carayol represented the Scots at No. 1 singles and doubles throughout the season. The Aussac, France native consistently delivered in key moments, helping Edinboro secure a postseason berth. Her efforts were recognized not only with All-Conference honors but also with PSAC Western Division Athlete of the Week accolades in April.

Carayol earned the weekly award after going a perfect 2-0 in both singles and doubles competition during matches against Seton Hill and Clarion. Those victories clinched Edinboro's spot in the PSAC playoffs and showcased her leadership at the top of the lineup.

The Scots closed the regular season on a high note with a dominant 5-2 win over Clarion at Westwood Racquet Club. Edinboro swept the top two doubles matches, with Carayol and Sofia Benito earning a commanding 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles. In singles play, Carayol was equally dominant, securing a 6-0, 6-0 win at the top spot.

Additional contributions came from Benito, Neza Rogl, and Lucianna Ponce, each posting convincing victories to round out the team's regular-season finale.

In postseason action, Edinboro faced a tough challenge in the PSAC quarterfinals, falling 4-0 to East Stroudsburg. Despite the early exit, the Scots' season featured steady growth and competitive play against top conference opponents.

Across the PSAC West, Slippery Rock's Amaia Balaguer Brau was named Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive season, while IUP's Charliz Tabili earned Freshman of the Year honors. Slippery Rock head coach Matt Meredith was selected as Coach of the Year.
