Edinboro Women’s Tennis Pair Earns Academic All-District Honors

The Edinboro women's tennis team combined excellence in competition with success in the classroom during the 2025–2026 season, as Sofia Benito and Cecelia Carayol were both named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.

The honor recognizes student-athletes across NCAA Division II who have demonstrated outstanding achievement both on the court and academically. With their selections, Benito and Carayol represent the Fighting Scots among the nation's top scholar-athletes and advance to consideration for CSC Academic All-America® honors.

Carayol, a senior from Aussac, France, capped a standout collegiate career with another impressive season at the top of Edinboro's lineup. Competing at No. 1 singles and doubles throughout the year, she earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West First Team All-Conference honors. Carayol proved to be a consistent difference-maker, leading the Scots in key matchups and helping secure a postseason berth.

One of her signature performances came late in the regular season, when she went undefeated in singles and doubles against Seton Hill and Clarion. That effort earned her PSAC Western Division Athlete of the Week honors and helped clinch Edinboro's spot in the PSAC Tournament. In the regular-season finale against Clarion, Carayol was dominant, recording a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles and teaming with Benito for a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles.

Benito, a sophomore from Madrid, Spain, also played a critical role in the Fighting Scots' success. She delivered consistent results in both singles and doubles competition, including her commanding straight-set win over Clarion in the season finale. As Carayol's primary doubles partner, Benito helped anchor the top flight with strong chemistry and poise throughout the season.

Edinboro closed the regular season on a high note with a 5-2 win over Clarion before facing East Stroudsburg in the PSAC quarterfinals. Although the Scots fell in postseason play, the campaign reflected significant growth and competitive resilience.
