GREENSBURG, Pa. — The Edinboro women's soccer team dropped to Seton Hill 1-0 on Saturday. The Fighting Scots outshot the Griffins 9-5 and put five shots on goal, but were held scoreless.
Leyna Irwin put an early header on frame for the Scots at 4:08, but the Griffins moved in front at 7:00 when Katie Pazdziorko scored off an Eliza Artell assist on a long ball behind the defense and a one-on-one finish. The Fighting Scots generated several looks after the goal, with
Grace Madison shooting wide and
Jada Cole forcing a save from Rhys Caplinger before putting another attempt high.
Brianna Garey kept the margin at one with a save on Kilee Coatney at 23:23, and
Adison Cook later put a shot on goal for the Scots at 35:28, but the Griffins held a 1-0 lead at halftime.
The Griffins had the first sustained look of the second half, with Maddie Teakle's shot blocked at 54:17 and Teakle taking a corner less than 20 seconds later. The Scots created the next chances on frame as
Claire Cacurak forced a save from Caplinger at 57:25, and
Addison Thomas put another shot on goal off
Sydney Patterson's corner at 63:59. The Fighting Scots pushed late while down 1-0, with Madison shooting wide at 80:17, Cole taking corners at 84:13 and 87:44, and Patterson heading wide at 87:49 as the Griffins held on for the 1-0 final.
Cole led the Scots with two shots and put one on goal. Madison also recorded two shots. Garey played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with one save.
